About the Authors

Jeremy and Janel Miller live in Winona, Minnesota, and are the proud parents of three sons, Drew and twins, Luke and Tom. Having three children in less than two years, they’ve had their share of learning experiences. This husband and wife duo thought of Role Model Ricky as an exciting way to help teach our youth important values like being respectful, having good manners, and sharing.

Jeremy grew up in Winona, a small city in southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi River. He earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting from Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical and is the chief financial officer of Wm. Miller Scrap Iron & Metal Co. He and his two brothers are the fourth generation to be involved in their family recycling business. Jeremy is also serving his second term as a Minnesota State Senator, and is actively involved in his community.

Janel grew up on a farm just outside of Lewiston, a small town in southeastern Minnesota. She earned two undergraduate degrees (Bachelor of Athletic Training and Bachelor of Science, Exercise Science) from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Capella University. She is a department manager at Winona Health, a local healthcare provider, and a familiar face in the community.

Jeremy and Janel dedicated Role Model Ricky’s Big Birthday Bash to each of their parents who taught them the importance of strong family values, hard work, and responsibility.
